All right, we haven't talked much about what's new in Iowa 17.4 other than the gigantic changes in the European Union.

0:08.0

So we should talk about something that's changing for Apple Cash.

0:11.0

So Apple Cash has historically been a way for users to send and receive money

0:16.0

sort of like Apple's version of Venmo, but it's also been available in Apple Pay. If you have an Apple Cash

0:21.9

Balance you can use it to check out on websites where Apple Pay is an option.

0:27.0

But there's never been a card number for your Apple Cash debit card that you can use on

0:32.3

websites where Apple Pay isn't an option.

0:35.3

So previously you'd always have to transfer from the cash card to a different account

0:40.5

before you could actually spend the money, right?

0:42.4

Correct. If you didn't want to use Apple Pay.

0:44.0

Right, yeah, if Apple Pay is not available.

0:46.0

So now in Iowa 17.4, there's like a new prompt that shows up in the wallet app

0:51.0

where you can set up a virtual card number that is linked to your

0:54.7

Apple Cash card. So this basically turns your Apple Cash card into like a proper debit card

1:00.7

where if you have money on your Apple Cash card and you're shopping online

1:04.8

you can choose to use Apple Pay if it's available or if it's not available you can just

1:09.7

auto fill your virtual card number. Pretty nice change. I think other

1:14.3

like PayPal has a prepaid debit card where you have a card number and everything

1:18.9

so this is kind of just Apple matching what PayPal and Venmo and others and Cash App have offered, so pretty cool change.

1:25.6

Yeah, and you get a unique security code, that's the three digit number for each transaction.

1:30.9

So I guess it helps with, if if your information gets stolen they can't

1:34.4

immediately make another payment because they still need to match the CVV number on the back
