Texas does remain number three in the college football playoff committee rankings,

but the way that they've positioned the other SEC teams and they keep putting Notre Dame up above schools,

I don't have any understanding how or why with the loss that they have to Northern Illinois,

and their only significant win is over A&M. So it looks to me like the margin for error for Texas is

zero, meaning they have to beat Kentucky. They have to beat A&M to get into not only the SEC championship, but the college football playoff.
