at 9 p.m., getting back to that appointment television with that HBO, uh, tshhhhhthththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththththt

That guy is a big, big show, big show voice. And now for the HBO original series. That's sort of like when, uh, the Taco Bell dog passed away and their sales plummeted. Really? I don't know. It sounds real though, right? Yeah, you could, you could give it to me that the Taco Bell Chihuahua died. They were scrambling until they got the $5 big box. And that's a safe, the franchise. The Taco Bell crash of 2003. I think we all remember when we were for that one. We definitely do. And of course, you can listen to the podcast on YouTube, iTunes. Wow. Apple podcast.

1:24.9

Not iTunes. Spotify, Google podcast, Amazon music, and all the places for podcasts. Your mic. Oh, look at that. My mic has been tilted. It was leaning like a broke hip. Actually, this is going to be the final podcast uploaded to the NerdSoup channel. Starting after this, we will move over to our podcast channel, which you can find on our homepage, the NerdSoup podcast, go and subscribe. We're closing in on 2000 subscribers. We actually just uploaded a fan question podcast.

From a few weeks back on that channel. So you can go and check that out. And, uh, do we have anything else to plug? Social media at NerdSoup, both Soup NerdSoup, MonkeyFollow us everywhere and anywhere. I guess we should plug those. Our episode one review will be coming out next Monday. So the following day and then our spoiler discussion will be a bit later in the week, probably Wednesday, both of those hopefully dropping dropping after noon or back. Right. Yeah. Um, it feels right. It does. It also feels like, I don't know, like they're trying to

2:24.9

recapture lightning in the bottle. Maybe it will be a better call Saul situation, right? With the prequel ends up possibly being better than the original. Could be. There's, um, definitely a lot there to even go off of. Yeah. I mean, well, we might as well just get right into it. Our house of the Dragon preview. First topic. So we reviewed the great man before this. Not even recording. Yes. Yeah. The mics weren't even offered that. So hopefully somebody was recording us some nosy neighbors. I don't know a spy Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs. Right. Well, no. Yeah.

2:54.9

Yeah. It's got to be baseless. Yeah. Or I forget who runs YouTube. He just hacked our devices to listen to us talk off because he just likes us so much. Can't get enough of these guys. Well, he wants to see what we're talking about when it comes to rings of power. Oh, yeah. Yeah. These fucking nerds, they better be hyping up our show. Hey, I'm hoping we get some screeners for that in the next couple of weeks. We should. I was at the, um, I was going on a walk the other day to the park and concerning hobbits came on my playlist. And I got like emotional. She's such a

3:24.9

wholesome song. Yeah. It is so good. I mean, the score for those first three movies by Howard Chor was pretty. I hope I hope they blend some of that. Even like some like concerning hobbits when they go back and show some hobbits. Maybe not the whole, the complete copy, but go off of it, riff off of it. I think fans always appreciate that when you get a little musical cue. They did that in the Force Awakens. Um, when Snoke first appeared, they played the Emperor's theme. I don't really have any derivatives of anything prior. I mean, a lot of people look up at me.

3:54.9

They're planning about that. Yeah. No, it really didn't. Now that I think about it. And I know John Williams wrote a theme for Kenobi, but I don't know. It didn't really stand out. Well, this I'm interested if Dijuani comes in, because I know Danny's score was very much for her. But I think you can blend some of those, especially those over like almost growling sounds. They played whenever her dragons came. Yeah. Sort of a rumbling. I wonder if they can incorporate that into some of the scores for this show or some of the dragon sequences. There's going to be a lot of them. Yeah. I think that's it. Well, that's a good place to start when it comes to the music.

4:24.9

That was one of the underrated aspects of the original show. So many of those themes, those light motifs for the characters, for the settings, for the different houses. It adds to the world. And people always argue that with the original Star Wars. If you didn't have that score, would it be as popular? I don't think the music was as important to the success of Game of Thrones, but it was an important aspect. Yeah. And with this story being more contained to one setting. It's primarily going to be taking place in Kings Landing and the surrounding kingdoms. Um, I think dragons don't have a very unique

4:54.9

sound to it, especially when Danny first arrives. So you can definitely find a way to incorporate that. I think there's a way you can actually play off of the same. As we know, there, it is a Targaryen civil war. So maybe you can split it and play with it that way, where it still sounds the same, but each little adjustments me to signify if it's the Blacks or the Greens and something like that. I think that would be fun. Yeah, there's potential to, so the first episode is called the heirs of the dragon. So I imagine this is going to be setting up all the Targaryens who are in ruler

5:24.9

and ruling positions, or in high positions of power, not necessarily a part of the royal court, but like you mentioned in Dragonstone or in Driftmark and these other areas where the Targaryens and the Valarians are set. And you can introduce some new themes for the different characters. And then like you said, tweak them as the story plays out as some of these characters start to become a bit more corrupted, or they make where they make some controversial decisions. You can play with the themes. You can hint at danger around the corner, things to come stuff like that. But like I said, the first episode being titled the heirs of the dragon,

5:54.9

directed by Miguel Sepichinic, who is going to be a co-showrunner with Ryan Jake Condal, who is writing this first episode. Like I said, an introduction to all these characters getting familiar with some of these names. I'm still mixing up Rainies and Rhinare, and I imagine I'm going to do that throughout the whole first season. I love the realism that it adds to the world, but I hate it for my sake because I can't ever remember who is who. But that's going to be fun. Like I said, a nice little introduction to who are some of our major players in How Stargaring.

6:24.9

And I imagine House for Larian as well. Yeah, and I think especially an underrated aspect of just feel of a show is some things like the score and directors. So having some familiar people coming back from the original series, I think it's going to help fans or even people who are a little skeptical or don't really know what this is about. Kind of feel at home when they turn it on for episode one. It's going to be have be familiar. But like you said, just establishing new characters and new settings.

6:54.9

Well, familiar settings just new time in a different time period. And I think for this first episode, it's going to be, I think they've confirmed now that we're going to, it's not going to be flashback. So we're going to get a younger versions, these characters until we get the older versions later on in the season. So I think for episode one, like an important thing is just to establish be familiar, but different, differentiate yourself from the original show and kind of be like, this is where we're at. This is what we're establishing and kind of go from there. I wonder if, because some shows is, I think there's two routes.

7:24.8

A lot of shows go with their pilots. It's either you got to wow them at the end or do something to keep them back or just be set up. And I think with, it's a, if season eight ended well, I think that would afforded them the luxury of having maybe a ease into it a little bit, because they have all that good will.

7:43.0

People are going to come in skeptical and they have a bad taste in their mouth. So if you like episode one, they probably know that. And they're like, we got to hit them with something pretty good early on.

7:51.2

I wonder if it's going to start with one of these back stories about Aegon, the conqueror, old Valeria, you know, maybe King Viserys has a young Renera on his knee, telling him the history. And we get sort of like an animated opening to even give the audience that much information.

8:08.6

I think a lot of fans are still familiar with Aegon, the conqueror, but it'd be nice to get some of that back story to show how the Targaryens ended up on the seven kingdoms.
