What’s driving this increase, and how can we support families in protecting their loved ones? Today's guest offers insight by sharing what she learned—and unlearned—while trying to protect her family and how she made it her mission to help others. Today on The Dhru Purohit Show, Dhru sits down with Beth Lambert to discuss the growing epidemic of childhood disease. Beth shares her personal journey of healing her children and what she uncovered along the way. She also discusses what her nonprofit has discovered regarding continuous exposure to toxic loads, the factors impacting gut health, and how small changes can lead to significant results. Additionally, Beth explains why political candidates must address the health crisis and how advocacy and change begin at home. Beth Lambert is an Author, educator, and former healthcare consultant. Beth a pleasure to have you here. Thanks for joining on the podcast. You know today we're here to talk about a super important topic that's been getting a lot of attention in our community and nationally and with elections and it's the epidemic of childhood chronic disease.

0:18.0

But the thing is if you listen to the legacy media out there. They'll tell you that things are fine, kids are not

0:27.3

sicker than they were before, everything is okay, and anybody who's sounding the

0:32.4

alarm on this is part of the quote-unquote

0:34.8

WU-WU caucus. But let's start off with the fact that I don't think people actually realize how bad things are.

0:45.0

Give us a state of childhood chronic disease and why it truly is an epidemic here in America.

0:51.0

Right, well, the statistic you hear the most often

0:53.8

is that 54% of American children have at least one,

0:57.0

sometimes two, three, or four chronic health conditions.

0:59.5

So that's more than half of American children.

1:02.3

The thing that's really interesting about that statistic,

1:04.0

and you'll hear lots of people talk about that.

1:05.8

That's a statistic that's widely known, people throw it around.

1:08.6

But very few people talk about the fact that that is a statistic from 2011. So that was put out by some researchers who took a

1:16.5

broad brush look at what is going on with children's health. So that was

1:21.2

almost 15 years ago. So we can only imagine that the rates are just

1:25.1

increasing exponentially if you look back at the trends over the last few decades.

1:28.8

So what does it look like over the last few decades? If you go back to 1960, you had 2% of American children

1:34.1

with a diagnosed chronic health condition.

1:36.0

So we've gone from 2% in the 1960s to more than half and likely way higher than that.

1:41.3

And the other thing that's not taken to account in that

1:43.0

statistic is that many children have what I would call the soft signs of being
