So my guest today Adam Fisher has had many many jobs in journalism. He was an editor

at New York magazine at Wired and several other publications, but a few years ago he was

attacked and essentially left for dead in the New York City subway and he decided he had to get out of that crazy city

So he moved to an even crazy one to San Francisco there.

He started writing about tech among other things. Now Adam has a new book out called

Valley of Genius which tells the history of Silicon Valley, but he does so differently

than anything I've actually ever seen before. To do this Adam sat down with the

200 people who literally built the world we live in today and he lets them explain if

as a result of their own handiwork if they think we live in a dystopia now or a utopia.

I'll give you a hint to the answer to that that it completely depends on how old they are

based on what they think.

I will note that this book became such an obsession for Adam,

that he had to sell his house and open up a cheese shop

with his wife in order to finish it.

So if you, like me, are worried about tech and what it's doing to the world, this interview might put some of your concerns at ease,

or you'll probably want to move to a hippie commune like I do.

Business people should be shot.

They always say, we're in business to make money and I say, well not really, you just want to make a few

millions or billions.

But the return from Park is about 35 trillion.

Count those extra zeros and tell me what you're doing.

They're just trying to be comfortable.
