Most of us probably remember something from our years in school that really ignited our brains.

For me, it was a unit in my eighth grade English class.

We read two dystopian novels, then broke up into small groups to build our own utopian society,

and we had to record a slice of life video as our final project.

There were some requirements about things that had to be

included in that video, sure, but they were broad and our imaginations could run wild. I still

remember so much about that project and loved watching the videos my fellow classmates

came up with too. In that class, almost exactly 30 years ago, I was fully and joyfully

engaged with what I was learning.

But today, research shows the majority of teenagers associate school with boredom,

apathy, and stress.
