Summary

Yes, we want to pray for their salvation! But I think that some people have a hard time praying for those who they see as causing large scale harm or problems for others when they mistakenly think we are supposed to ask God to prosper them in their efforts. Instead, we can pray for God to bring good out of their leadership and for other blessings which don't involve supporting ungodly commitments or commitments that we see as ungodly. 0:05.5	it desperately. How do I overcome this struggle? So let me actually take you to scripture and give
0:09.6	you some guidance that a lot of people don't notice. First Timothy 2 and in this passage, what we're
0:14.6	going to read is the instruction we have on praying for leaders. All right, here we go. Therefore,
0:20.6	I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers and intercessions and giving of thanks be made for
0:25.6	all men and then you're going to describe what kinds of men for kings and all who are in authority.
0:31.4	Okay, so here's where you might get like, I know I should be praying for the administration,
0:34.8	like the president, the vice president, the congress and everybody involved in different governmental
0:41.2	positions. But look at the purpose of the prayers. It's interesting that we may lead a quiet and
0:48.3	peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. So the prayer, it seems at least part of the reason
0:57.1	to pray, not the only reason part of the reason to pray for those who are in leadership is that
1:00.5	they might make good choices so that the people under their leadership can live quiet and peaceful
1:05.2	lives in godliness and reverence. Lord, I pray that you help our president and vice president and
1:10.8	our congress, right, that you help the Senate and the House of Representatives to make choices that
1:15.8	will allow us to live in quiet and peaceful lives in godliness and reverence, not restrict our
1:21.0	religious freedoms to not cause oppression to basically clear as a way for people to live good lives.
1:28.6	That would be a focus of prayer. So there's also prayers for them to be saved, for them to be
1:34.0	converted. And that's also important to pray. But I think it's interesting that when they're brought
1:37.2	up specifically here in First Timothy too, it seems to be prayers because these people influence
1:43.6	everyone. So we're praying for all people. Let's pray for the leaders of all people that people
1:48.6	would be blessed. God, please help our country that we as a people would be helped to be able to live
1:55.6	godly lives. So that's that's an interesting angle of prayer. You can pray that. You can pray for
