Here we are again. I am here. My name is Emily Jane Fox. I am here with my wonderful

co-host Joe Hagen. Joe made it to the first week in September the last week, last

unofficial week of summer. We did it barely. It was a hellacious summer.

Yeah, I can't.

I'm usually am so sad the last week of summer before Labor Day.

Crushingly sad because... last week of summer before Labor Day.

Crushingly sad because in New York,

it means the seasons are turning.

I hate the cold weather.

You're sort of back to school to school back to work summer Fridays there over the whole

shebang it feels absolutely no different this year a part of it is because I'm in

Los Angeles and the weather is the same almost the entire year so I don't have that sadness.

But also every day is exactly the same in quarantine land.

The only real difference I feel at this point is with every passing moment we are getting closer to the election, which brings me both a tremendous amount of excitement and an incredibly paralyzing amount of fear.

And yet here we are closer than ever.

I am more nervous about the outcome of this election and the ability to vote in this election and people not telling the truth to pollsters as we lead up to it.

I feel very nervous. How do you feel?

I share all of your anxiety, but I recently spoke with the Republican strategist Stuart Stevens, who I interviewed and who we're going to be hearing from in a little while.

And he's one of these sort of like, you know, consultant cowboys of Washington who has absolute confidence in what he's saying.

You know, now some of that could be bullshit, but these guys have numbers and they're plugged

in and they're, you know, they've been through these races before and they kind of have, you know,

nuggets of wisdom about what to think about and what to pay attention to. And one of the things that he observed and pointed out to me is that after the conventions and after another week in which all of the images that they painted of Donald Trump as,
