Inflation cooled more than economists were expecting last month.

Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the Consumer Price Index, or CPI, was 2.8% for the 12 months ending in February,

which is a drop from the 3% annual rate in January.

CPI measures price changes across most of the goods and services you pay for each month.

This is good news for American consumers.

But there are concerns that with President Donald Trump's tariffs, it might not last.

it's encouraging that the inflation rate finally cooled off. This breaks a streak of four

straight months of heating up. But the question is, how long does this progress last? Because

today's inflation report, it doesn't capture the full effect of the trade war.

It includes the initial impact of the 10% tariff on China, but not the 20% tariff that kicked

in earlier this month.

Does it include the limited tariffs on Canada and Mexico or the 25% tariff on steel and

aluminum that kicked in today, economists fear that all of

those tariffs could reignite inflation or at least prevent further progress. And just this morning,

Canada announced a 25% tariff on a variety of U.S. goods in retaliation for Trump's sweeping duties

on steel and aluminum. We're going to bring it to them directly.

We're going to say that Ukraine is prepared to stop all battlefield activity
