If you're just tuning in, this is part two of an interview with Jonathan and Melissa

Helzer about the 18-inch journey. If you miss the first part, please go back and listen,

and we had a conversation about the history and the heart

behind the school.

But today we're going to answer some of the most commonly asked questions

about the 18 inch journey.

I would love to hear you guys share some about the foundation of the school.

We refer to them as pillars. What are the three primary pillars of the 18 inch

journey? Yeah, the three pillars that we built the school are the pillar of

discipleship, community, and creativity.

And discipleship is such a terrifying, exhilaratingating beautiful adventure that a lot of us don't ever experience in church

because a lot of our church context is a meeting that we go to for an hour or two hours and then we leave.

But discipleship is what Jesus invited the boys into for three and a half years

where it was life on life day in, day out, community living with one another.

And he was teaching them how to do a wholehearted life. He was modeling to them his relationship with the father

when they came to him and said, teach us how to pray. It didn't begin with a

formula, it began with a conversation, our father.

And that's our dream as the first pillar of the school is to disciple the way Jesus

disciples. I mean I love the discipleship moments. It's a
