Do you remember the BP oil spill?

It happened on the Gulf Coast back in 2010. A massive oil rig exploded off the coast of Louisiana.

The resulting spill was the leading story in the nation for the entire summer of 2010 as waves of crude oil crashed into coastal beaches.

It was panic.

Because there's never been a leak this size.

Stopping it has tested the limits of human technology.

I got really scared.

I know what everyone was thinking is like how on earth are they going to stop this?

I just think I don't think it's going to ever end.

But it did end.

Government officials reported that the leak was plugged,

that the beaches were cleaned and the coast was safe.

They declared the Gulf open for business and promised severe consequences for those responsible.
