Summary

Is it pointless to try to leave a family legacy when your great grandkids probably won't even know who you are?

That's what business influencer Alex Hormozi said recently. "Just help people now, don't worry about a family legacy", is essentially his argument.

Reilly Pilgrim and Chris Cirullo join Jeremy to discuss whether this is the right way to think about this as Christians building Family Teams. Jeremy shows us that the Bible actually explicitly answers this question. You might be surprised to find out where!

One of the things I struggle with is listening to guys like Alex Hermose talk about this topic at their age because so much of where this gets really intense is as you get older.

some fatherhood topics today. I'm joined by Riley Pilgrim and Chris Sorillo. Thank you guys so much for

jumping on here today. Thank you. Yeah. Glad to be here. A lot of you guys, I think, are familiar with

0:45.6

Chris. He has recently published a book. So head over to missionfit.co slash book. It's called

0:52.2

the Missionfit Father. And you can get the Kindle and the

0:55.3

Audible edition on there. The print version is coming soon. We're waiting for Riley and his wife

1:01.0

to work on their elderberry company. We'll be talking about that soon. Awesome. Thanks. Yeah.

So guys, we need to talk about this perspective of fatherhood that, you know, I, there is a kind of like, it isn't often explicitly stated. I believe it's almost always implicitly believed by highly ambitious people that there is sort of a, it's sort of a waste to build a multi-generational legacy. It doesn't

1:30.3

really work anymore. And so it oftentimes isn't explicitly stated, but recently Alex Harmosi,

1:38.4

a lot of you guys are, I'm sure, familiar with him. He just explicitly said it. And it sort of

1:43.0

started a discussion. I wanted to get Riley,

1:45.0

Chris, your guys' take on this, and then kind of dive into some thoughts that I've been having on

1:48.4

this area. So I'll just kind of frame this up. So Alex tweeted out this, your great, great

1:53.5

grandchildren probably won't have your last name, look like you, or even know your name. And if you dedicate your entire

2:03.8

life to helping them, you might as well just help other people now and enjoy the benefits now.

2:11.6

Better to live your legacy than leave one. So his point is, if you really are to do the cost-benefit analysis of spending a lot of time

2:24.8

focusing on your kids and your grandchildren, you're not going to get as much benefit in this life

2:29.9

as you would if you focused on others, other people, is what he's saying. And I think there's

2:35.9

some truth to that. It takes faith in the future and an understanding that what we're trying to
