As soon as you hear morning mood, you immediately know shenanigans around the horizon.

And as we work our way through episode six of the Jackson Pollack series,

all manner there are shenanigans in this episode.

Let's jump right back into the story, no need to waste anybody's time.

Okay, so Peggy's reaction to Jackson's behavior, namely him drunkenly ping in her fireplace.

She actually didn't freak out right away.

Like everyone else in Jackson's life, she enabled him based on his

potential. Peggy was super excited about marketing her new protege to

curators, dealers, buyers, other artists, this cowboy artist throwing himself into his art and the new face of American art.

So she would schedule lunches and meetings with museum officials, and because we're dealing with post-prohibition,

alcohol really was at the center of all

social activities. Everyone was really excited to be able to drink out in the open, but Peggy

immediately realized that the rumors about Jackson were true and the real extent to which alcohol was an issue for him especially with strangers.

Of which Peggy said, quote, he behaved like a pig and she stopped bringing him around and told him not to even show up at the gallery anymore.

Which meant that after his last show Jackson wasn't really allowed to be part of the, I guess you'd call it the grassroots sales and marketing and networking component of being an artist.

And collectors in the press, they appeared to be coming around a little bit more.

Clement Greenberg, that art critic, he really

process more and more of what he saw Jackson's show,

and he immediately knew that Jackson could become the greatest painter the US has ever produced.
