You describe hitting comedy clubs as hitting the gym. Can you explain to the people how important spots like the comedy seller, the comedy store, Boston Comedy Club are keeping the art form alive?

I think anywhere where it feels like a safe haven, where the comics come first, where camera phones come second.

And I think they're more important than ever because for a while, it looked like everything was going to go to YouTube and Amateurs could really pop and you didn't need a big network backing and Twitter was a lot of fun in the beginning for jokes.

But comedy clubs, I think of them as a temple of free speech.
