Today, our guest is Dr. Jim Burns. He's president of Homeward and he has spent his life

ministering to other people and writing books and talking to people about how we can pray for our children, not only when they're

young but when they're older. Come on with me, let's settle down and let's get us a

glass of ice tea or a cup of coffee and listen to what Dr.

Jim Burns has to say.

So you were youth pastor and then did you just get a burden to pray for these kids? Is that why you have kind of gone into this field?

I mean I kind of laugh because I can remember being in youth ministry at a fairly large church.

I can remember saying to a good friend of mine who was on my team and I said,

you know, these parents are dropping their kids off and we're helping the kids but really what the

kids should drop the parents often we should try to help the parents and we started

laughing about it and I ended up writing a book called partnering with parents

in the church youth ministry.

So my burden became the family.

And so I, my calling at homeward, which mine is to help family succeed and you know I've really never

looked back.

You mentioned Homeward and you're president of Homeward you started that organization of course.
