Joheim was born on April 17th, 1933 in Zabers, Poland, but it was a part of Germany back then. So let's get into some history for that time. In 1933 we see the peak of the Great Depression in the United States. Statistically, one out of every four people were out of work.

Hundreds of thousands of people found themselves homeless and were forced to move into shacks or tent cities.

And some just had to wander from town to town looking for work.

As poverty increases, so does the number of deaths from diseases such as tuberculosis, diphtheria, and scarlet fever.
