Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and apply

scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through Friday,

as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

I'm excited about exploring God's word with you, so let's get started.

Thank you for joining again today. Let's jump right in with a recap of John Chapter 2.

The first recorded miracle of Jesus' ministry is the turning of water into wine in Cana of Galilee.

His mother informs him that the wine is run out at a wedding feast.

While the time has not come for Jesus to show everyone his deity,

he honors his mother's request and he turns six water pots into wine. This serves to, quote,

manifest his glory to his disciples. Jesus then makes a trip to Jerusalem for the Passover feast.

He makes a whip and drives out the money changers in the

temple. The Jews ask for a sign as proof of his authority. He speaks of the temple being destroyed

and rebuilt in three days. Jesus is referencing his death and resurrection. In Jerusalem, he

performs signs and many believe in him.

The miracles in this chapter demonstrate the love of Jesus.

He is easing into public ministry, but at his mother's request, Jesus turns the water into wine.

This is a concession he makes out of love, and it encourages everyone.

Later, in Jerusalem, while not yet time for him to die, he still drives greedy Jews out of the temple. He does this because of his passion for bringing honor to his father. Jesus is

motivated by love, and he later dies on the cross to help others and to obey God. We should appreciate

how much he did out of concern for us, and we should

emulate that by helping others and openly showing our love for our Heavenly Father.
