On a cold day in December of 2007, 57-year-old John Darwin turned himself into a London police

station. But he wasn't there to confess to a crime. Instead, he proclaimed something much more bizarre. Darwin said,

I think I'm a missing person. Authorities quickly recognized the name. Darwin had already made

headlines five years earlier when one morning in 2002 he had paddled off in a canoe and never returned.
