When I first started running these things, the Lord 35 years ago or whatever, you'd go to a race and there'd be, you know, maybe a hundred people.

And then you'd write in another race a couple months later, and it'd be more or less the same

hundred people. And so you got to know people very quickly. You got to know most of the people. so you know it's like a sort of

extended family and I know I still feel that way I mean almost all my best

friends are ultra runners and some are old timers the rocket and you know some are relatively newer

runners like like Bill Yang you know but it is a culture but as the culture

grows to where there's 100,000 finishers in the US in a year instead of 10,000 like it used to be,

inevitably things do change.

For us, I think the best we can do is try to pass along the spirit of the sport as best we can to the newer generation. What is up everyone?
