0:08.9

some of the most bizarre UFO cases and incidents of high strangeness. Today we are going to be

0:16.5

discussing the super trippy Townsend case, or to directly quote John Keel's article about this case in True Magazine,

0:23.6

who was that six inch tall animated tin can I saw you with last night?

0:28.6

Who indeed? So, yes, this case is probably best known as the case of the tin can or beer can aliens,

0:34.6

for reasons which will become apparent in a minute here. So without further ado,

0:39.0

on October 23, 1965, a 19-year-old radio announcer and summertime Bible camp counselor by the name of

0:45.6

Jerry Townsend was driving from the town of Little Falls, Minnesota, to Long Prairie, Minnesota,

0:50.7

at around 7.7.30 in the evening. About four miles outside the town of Long Prairie,

0:55.7

as he browned a particular bend in the road, his car up and decided to cut out. Engine, lights,

1:00.7

radio, everything went completely dead. Sounds familiar, right? So he claimed that he coasted for a second,

1:06.6

but then put on the brakes, because up ahead of him in the middle of the road was, for all intents and purposes, a rocket ship.

1:13.6

Yes, like a high sci-fi space rocket, complete with three large fins.

1:18.6

Now, Townsend claimed that it was around 30 to 40 feet tall and 10 feet in diameter,

1:22.6

and that it was standing actually on these kind of tripod-like fins. Now underneath the object was a circle of bright

1:30.9

colorless light and standing inside the circle of light were what have been affectionately

1:36.0

termed the beer can aliens. Now Townsend claimed that they were these three beings which

1:41.9

looked like tin cans but were the size of a beer can, quote

1:45.8

unquote, which stood on tripod legs with matchstick arms. They had no faces or eyes or anything,

1:52.4

and Townsend claimed that his first thought was actually to try and knock one down to take it with him.

1:56.7

So to that effect, he jumped out of the vehicle and was about to head on over to knock down one of

2:00.7

the beings. Some reports even mentioned that he considered trying jumped out of the vehicle and was about to head on over to knock down one of the beings.
