The subject of my investigation is the death of Boston police officer John O'Keefe.

His girlfriend Karen Reid has been accused of the murder but says

she was framed by the police who are the ones who actually killed him. Here's the story.

It was the most divisive trial of 2024, a case that caused confrontations inside the courtroom,

outside the courthouse, and all over social media.

Karen Reid is accused of running over her Boston police officer boyfriend John O'Keefe on purpose.

Prosecutors charged her with murder. Then a local video blogger and social media

influencer covering the story transformed this case into something else. He is known as Turtle

Boy and he has tens of thousands of followers who all believe based upon the evidence that

they've seen that Karen Reid is innocent.

And she was being framed by police.

They mobilized and created the free Karen Reid movement,

and this trial turned it into a polarizing issue,

much like the left versus the right in politics. That divide seeped into the jury room

as the first trial ended with a deadlocked jury. Now the battle lines have been drawn and both sides
