Summary

Kathy Tu (from the podcast, Nancy) talks about the on-going process of self-acceptance: taking ownership of how she looks, growing more comfortable in queer spaces, and trusting the people around her when she can't trust her gut. We also discuss what binds LGBTQ people together as a community, how to cope with anxiety, and current dating woes. LGBTQ&A is hosted by Jeffrey Masters. @jeffmasters1 This summer, I'll be biking the 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles with AIDS Life/Cycle. We're trying to make AIDS a thing of the past. Hey, I'm Jeffrey Masters, and today on LGBTQ&A, I'm talking to Kathy Two, who is one of the co-hosts of the podcast, Nancy.

We have a really great conversation about the ongoing process of self-acceptance as a queer person.

0:18.8

Now, I don't know, that feels a little silly to say, but it is a

0:22.0

process and there's no timeline for it. So I think it's really valuable to hear someone like Kathy,

0:27.6

someone who's been out for over a decade, talk about not accepting being queer, but finally

0:32.7

loving it. So we discuss that as well as dating and a very 2018 topic, anxiety. That's coming up.

All right, without further ado, here's Kathy.

1:15.8

So you co-hosts the podcast, Nancy. I think it's really interesting that you've said that before the podcast you didn't really think that much about being queer or have that queer of a life.

1:20.0

Yeah. That really surprised me, because now you're a de facto voice for the community,

1:24.4

you know? Yeah. Yeah, that sometimes feels like a lot of pressure.

1:29.0

But I think we try to make it so that people know that I'm figuring it out with everybody

else.

1:34.3

Yeah.

1:35.0

Yeah, because nothing's more intimidating than listening to a bunch of people that have

1:40.2

everything figured out.

1:41.6

Yeah, I think that like where we are as a community now in 2018,

1:44.3

we are still figuring it out, which is exciting. Totally. Yeah, yeah. So not having you thought
