0:11.0	I'm Neil and I'm Beth. Many of those leading the fight against
0:15.1	climate change are young people who feel betrayed by politicians and adults.
0:20.3	In survey after survey children report feeling that they have no future, that
0:26.0	humanity is doomed and that governments are failing to act. This is causing many
0:31.0	young people to feel worried about the state of the planet. This is between adults and children in families and schools.
0:43.8	What's certain is that a solution to the climate emergency needs the cooperation of everyone,
0:48.8	both old and young.
0:51.0	So can talking honestly about the climate help mend the divisions between generations?
0:56.8	That's what we'll be discussing in this program along with some useful new vocabulary.
1:01.5	But first I have a question for you Neil. Many young people's hopes and fears
1:06.7	about climate change are symbolised by the Swedish activist Greta Tumburg. These days Greta travels the world speaking about the climate
1:15.6	emergency but her protests started much smaller in her hometown Stockholm.
1:21.6	So how did Greta Tumberg's climate activism begin?
1:26.2	Did she a plant trees in her school garden,
1:30.3	B skip school on Fridays, or C, Recycle her school's plastic waste.
1:37.0	Hmm, I think Greta Tumburg went on strike and skipped school on Fridays.
1:42.0	Okay, Neil, I will reveal the correct answer later in the programme.
1:46.0	One recent survey showed that three quarters or more of young people in the UK feel the future is frightening.
