Two of my favourite things.

James Acaster here, comedian and music fan, and in 2017, I had a breakdown.

I dealt with that breakdown by buying as much music from 2016 as I

possibly could. As a result, I now own over 700 albums that came out in 2016 and I'm convinced

it's the greatest year for music of all time. But it's not enough me being convinced. I also

want to convince each and every single one of you, plus a guest

every week. I'm going to send them an album in advance. We're going to come on the podcast, we're

going to talk about that album. This week, my guest is Kiri Pritchard McLean, and I've sent her

The Salmon of Doubt by Coin Locker Kid. coin locker kid.

Coin Locker Kid is the alias of Devin Smith, who's a musician from North Carolina.

It started out as a band, a hip-hop trio influenced by Portishead, a Madlib, and then evolved into this solo project that's kind of boundaryless when it comes to genres now. A lot of the albums

that Korn Looka Kid puts out a kind of sound collagey, they have quite a strong narrative to them

of some sort that's both done musically and lyrically a lot of the time

and there's so many different influences in there.

The Salmon of Doubt draws quite a bit from 90s hip-hop, the production and the musical stylings,

although it brings loads of other genres into the mix as well,

and basically is built up of a lot of samples that Devin Smith found on the internet.

I should take a moment to quit with the theatrics and tell you something important.
