why is it that you wrote this book, Holy Unhappiness? I think that's kind of like this

juxtaposition of ideas. And I know you've have like, as everybody listening has encountered some setbacks, some loss,

some things and some people know of your story. But tell us a little bit about you and the things

that led up to this book. Yeah, it's a bit of a provocative title, I guess. I'm really grateful.

My publisher let me use it. But yeah, I guess. I'm really grateful my publisher let me use it.

But yeah, I think this book was really kind of, it's something I've been working on for about

six or seven years. I know I just published it, but it's been something that's been stirring in me

for a really long time. And honestly, this book, I think, was born a bit out of my

vocational angst. And what I mean by that is that I kind of had gotten this message my whole

life growing up in the church that if I could just find my calling and find God's will for my life,

that I would be happy, that he'd give me the sense of meaning and

purpose in my work. And when I felt like I had finally found my calling, I've just kind of suffered

from the sense of disillusionment because I wasn't happy all the time. In fact, I was struggling.

I found work to be difficult. I found work to be boring sometimes. I found it to be

frustrating. But I didn't feel like I was allowed to have those feelings because I had followed the
