Not too long ago I had the chance to chat with Yokohama-based Scott Crawford, author of "Silk Road Centurian", "The Han-Xiongnu Wars", and a new one coming out any day now (co-written with his wife Alexis Kossiakoff), "The Phoenix and the Firebird." Scott has also written several works of short fiction that have appeared in fantasy, mystery, and horror magazines and anthologies. We talked mostly about the Han Dynasty and two books he has written, one non-fiction and another a work of fiction, both set in that exciting time period. 0:54.0	So you were born in D.C. and moved to Tokyo when you were eight.
0:58.5	So tell me about this exciting life you've lived, living outside the United States.
1:03.6	Yeah, you know that experience moving to Japan when I was eight years old
1:07.7	really proved momentous. I spent three years there.
1:10.9	So in some sense, it's not such a long time, but during really formative
1:14.8	years for me. And I can say that time changed the course of my life. You know, I think it
1:20.9	ignited a desire in me to explore kind of foreign worlds new lands and
1:26.6	cultures and really to kind of to tell stories about the contact
1:34.5	between different worlds.
1:35.5	And I think that became a real theme
1:37.7	underlying a lot of my writing later on.
