And I'm Chris LaVoy of the Stephanie Miller Show.

And our guest today is a Democratic Socialist and a comedian, and she is running for Congress in New York's 12th

District Lauren Ashcraft welcome to Amped Up. Thank you so much for having me. I'm

really honored to be here speaking with both of you today.

Yeah, so I just want to kind of start out and

why don't you give us a quick little introduction?

It's your first time on the show.

Tell us kind of, you know, who you are a little bit about your

background and why you're running for Congress. Sure. So I am running because New York's 12th

congressional district is such a vivid representation of inequality.

So I'm sitting in Queens in Long Island City and there's a very physical divide of the East River. So if I look outside my

window I see the largest public housing complex in the entire Western Hemisphere

Queens Bridge and it's filled with amazing people,

and I spend a lot of time there,

and I've literally seen with my own eyes

that these buildings are infested with rats.

People with disabilities live on the top floor

and the elevator doesn't get them there,

so they crawl up the stairs.

It's just a completely forgotten community in terms of representation.

And across the river, I see the upper east side,
