Summary

This week, we're discussing all things studio. Both Alice and Louise recently completed major studio clean-upn projects, while Louise is overseeing the construction of a new workspace. What does it mean to set up a productive studio space? Is your space cosy or utilitarian? Is it helpful to get 'outside' help with planning or reorganising your space? And when is it time to make a change to your environment?

Hopefully, our conversation will inspire you to take a fresh look at your own space - and maybe even have your own studio clear-out :)

Hello and welcome to Art Juice. This is honest, generous and humorous conversations that will feed your creative soul and get you thinking with me, Alice Sheridan.

0:14.4

And me, Louise Fletcher. And today we're back for a little bit of a catch-up. We've both been busy doing other things, but we have

0:21.5

got a subject that we have both been working on, which I think is applicable for everybody,

0:27.2

which is talking around how you organise your studio and just in general, your work environment,

0:34.0

how that affects you, what you can do to change it, how you know when it's time to do

0:38.9

that. So we're going to be having a little bit of a chat about that. In the meantime, give me a bit of

0:44.5

an update. What have you been doing? Backwards and forwards between the new property where the

0:51.3

workshop will be and home. And yesterday yesterday when I arrived by a miracle the plasterers

0:59.4

who said they would come and do the plastering had come and done the plastering and it was

1:04.8

people just doing what they say they're going to do when they say they're going to do it and

1:09.3

surprising doing it faster than you expected, and to a standard where my builder came and went,

1:16.3

this is not bad, this is not bad, which I don't think I've heard in techies knowing him.

1:21.6

Past the Andy test. Yeah, I don't think I've ever heard that. So that's good. But painting as well. So how it's ended up working out is when I get back, I try and do all my admin and all my, any video editing, podcast editing while I'm here. And then when I get back, I have a couple of days of studio time. So I have painting and tidy in my studio, which is what we put this up.

1:47.1

Actually, one big advance, though, that happened in my video in of my process, speaking, you were

1:53.2

saying earlier, you don't want to share anything. And I'm the opposite because I like sharing

1:57.3

what I'm doing. But I watched this guy on YouTube who's a young guy who's doing up a cottage in Scotland.

2:05.8

It's one of those niches you go down.

2:07.6

And I watch him video in his life up there in Scotland.

2:11.2

And he's very good with his videos at setting up a tripod and filming himself.

2:16.9

So it's not just him talking to you you're watching him

2:19.7

do the things yeah when i was tied in my studio i thought i wonder if i could do that like how hard

2:25.9

would it be so i got a tripod and set it up and then just picked it up and moved it around at various
