Peter opens up in verse nine with that word,

but, but you. But I have to ask why? Why? with that

but you but I have to ask why why is that but there well in the previous verses he's describing those

Gentiles that he mentions down in verse. He's describing how they interact with each other

and how they interact with the spiritual world and he's saying they are at

home here on this earth but you are different. I'm drawing a distinction between you and

them. You are not the same. You are the Saints, you are the Church and right now

who is writing to you've been scattered is what it says in

verse nine you have been scattered abroad I understand that you're under

persecution but you need to know who you are that that yes you're occupying space in that community, but you are separate

from that community.

Does that make sense?

It's like Atlanta, you recognize this, you ask somebody where they're from. I live in Atlanta, but I'm from Texas. I'm from California. I'm not from here. I'm here, but I'm not really from here. And so Peter makes his distinction to the church that he's writing to

or the believer scattered abroad by reciting to them their identity.

He says in verse 9, if you're a believer, and that's a big if in this room,

if you're a believer, you are a chosen race.

You are a royal priesthood.

You are a holy nation. You are his own special people and my

question this morning is do you know who you are? Do you know who God has made you to be?
