Val podcast network. As always, I'm your host, Maddie Lee, and our fantastic

producer is Lauren's Holmes. As you all know, very well by now, if it wasn't

extremely obvious by the name of this podcast, we don't just stick to sports

here, and so I didn't want to address the fact that this has been a really

tragic week, especially for the friends and families of Dante Wright and Adam

Toledo, and their deaths and the release of Bodycam footage from when a

police officer shot 13-year-old Adam Toledo. That was released this weekend,

has understandably really shaken communities both here in Chicago and in

Minnesota and really the country as a whole. And it just so happens that in the

baseball world at the same time, you know, at the end of last week, we were

celebrating Jackie Robinson Day. And there were some positive things to come

out of that. You know, the players alliance, which has done some awesome things in

the past year since it was founded. There were last updates that over 250

players had donated their game day salaries, which is a lot of money, and

they're going to be able to do some really impactful stuff with all of those

donations. So I thought before really kicking off today's episode, I wanted to

read something that Jason Hayward said. We did pregame press conference with him on

Jackie Robinson weekend, so to speak. And he was asked about some of the recent

tragedies and kind of in the context of last summer and the protests then, and

whether that was really an inflection point because we have talking especially

in baseball about inflection points and the fight against police brutality and
