A Formula One driver's career can be defined by the risks they take.

Risks can bring race victories, even world championships, or results that simply keep them on the grid.

But as Luciano Bertie found out during an ambitious overtake at the 2001 Belgian Grand Prix,

they don't always pay off.

That was the end of my career, the accent, that was the end of it.

I always say, it was my dreaming year, being in Formula One at the same time was my year of nightmares. I was really

frustrated, I was sad, I was under pressure, maybe I was trying to do too much.

Nowadays with more experience, more mature I wouldn't try to do too much. But nowadays with more experience, more mature,

I wouldn't try to do silly things to try to make a result to happen.

It took Luciano two years to recover fully from that crash. He left the sport with no World Championship

points to his name despite putting in some impressive drives in what was a

super competitive midfield in the early 2000s, but he'd still achieved his dream.

Some people might think well he may be a bit sad of what happened to him. I'm not, I'm really

grateful. The first time that I came to Inter Lagos to watch a Formula One race was 91 and I was with goosebumps.

Exactly 10 years later, I was in a Formula Formula Grid and when I done my first race here I remember that.

chaos and emotion in just 14 races.

He made his debut at the Austrian Grand Prix in 2000 as a stand-in for an

ill Eddie Irvine and he got a full-time race seat with Jaguar the following year. Only that's
