Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and

0:09.3

apply scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through

0:15.2

Friday as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

0:22.8

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

0:28.5

I'm excited about exploring God's word with you, so let's get started.

0:34.1

Today, our attention is in Luke chapter 10. Jesus selects 70 disciples and sends them out to work

0:41.9

miracles and proclaim the kingdom of God. He instructs them to bless those who listen and move on

0:47.2

1:06.2

To illustrate, Jesus tells the story of the Good Samaritan who serves someone in need, even at a

1:12.1

significant personal cost. The chapter concludes with Martha being busy and worried about so many

1:18.4

things, while Mary chooses the better part to sit and listen to Jesus. Let's look for some

1:26.0

benefits from these characters. Jesus often does his work

1:29.6

through his people. We are his disciples, and sharing his love and power is our primary work.

1:35.5

It can be discouraging when people do not listen, but that's not our focus. We, like the 70s,

1:41.1

seek to teach all and pray the gospel falls on soft hearts.

1:50.7

Success in ministry is exciting, but our work is never as great as our names being recorded in heaven.

1:55.5

Our primary objective is to love God fully and to always love our neighbor.

2:02.6

Like the Good Samaritan, we show Christ and how we love those who may not love us. To help develop this service, we need as much time at Jesus' feet as we can get. I really hope that what we're doing

2:09.3

here in reading every day and discussing it is a part of that process of being at his feet.
