How do folks? One of my favorite old-time radio shows is Lumban Abner. The

immensely popular show featured the comic adventures of Lumb Eddards, owner of the Jotham Down store in Pine Ridge, Arkansas,

and his employee Abner Peabody.

Every Christmas on the show, they did a special episode that's hard to describe but it's sort of a meta parallel reality

is time travel-esque story and it gets straight at the true meaning of Christmas in a way

that Charles Dickens Christmas Carol doesn't. I won't spoil it but the story

proved so popular and so meaningful that they reenacted it every year for Christmas.

I thought, now that I'm back here in my hometown in Arkansas, the Ozark Mountains that I'd share the story with you.

This version is based on the 1938 broadcast of the Christmas episode.
