So make yourselves comfy, and I'll begin.

Once upon a time, there lived the Resolutes, little creatures who lived in New Year's town. The Resolutes, little creatures who lived in New Year's town.

The Resolutes looked like tiny little bells, so tiny they could fit in your ear.

And that worked out well since the Resolutes had a very important job.

They reminded people of their New Year's resolutions.

Every year, each Resolute was assigned to a person who made a resolution.

Most people did not keep theirs, or they forget a week after.

So the Resolutes were there to plant little reminders in their ears. Each family of Resolutes was responsible for a specific kind of resolution.

And each member of that family would be assigned to a particular human being.

There were the Sporties who would play more sports this year.

The chefs who would cook more this year.

The arties for those who would make more art this year.

The worker bees for those who wanted to get more work done this year.

The workerlies, for those who wanted to work less this year.

And then there were the Micellonies, the family who were in charge of the resolutions

that didn't quite fit into any category. Little Mac, Bicelanese, was finally old enough

to participate in this year's resolutions. The thing about it was that Mac, unlike all the other

resolutes, did not want to be a resolute. He did not see the point. He thought it was a mish-mosh

that he would have to help remind someone of a promise they made to themselves. So he vowed not to be a

resolute, but instead to leave New Year's town and go see the world.

That's what he wanted to do.
