0:34.3	And we are up to Rousseau.
0:40.3	We're doing part two of Rousseau. We've gone through quite a few of these guys, Luther, Calvin, Descartes.
0:44.3	Who else did we hit?
0:46.3	We had Newton, Locke, and so we're about halfway through.
0:50.3	And some say that Rousseau was the single greatest, you know, the most significant
0:56.3	maker of the modern mind. That is one assessment because his feeling is everything pervaded
1:04.0	literature, politics, philosophy, everything since him. I'm like so unimpressed with him, but you know, this isn't about
1:12.6	these guys being the smartest or the most original. It's about them. Tapping into something
1:18.2	that society was ready for was probably already happening, putting it in a way that they
1:24.7	can absorb it. I think in a lot of cases, it's for the powers that be or some powerful entity promotes this one person over another because that's where they want society to go.
1:39.8	Some openly justify current events.
1:44.6	He was used to justify the French Revolution,
1:47.4	that the people were the source of all wisdom.
1:51.6	I think we get that in the modern world.
1:54.4	You see it, like this idea that the surf is the source of all wisdom.
1:59.3	You know, the southern black culture has that deep wisdom and that
2:08.3	the people can't be wrong. So I think that comes from Rousseau, and we do feel that today.
2:15.9	So usually the second half of the chapter is more about
2:19.7	the philosophy and the impact in the beginning kind of sets the stage who these guys are. Sometimes
2:23.9	it's important. Sometimes it's not. It was in his case. Quite a few of these guys seem to have
