Hey, this is Tony Robbins. Listen, thanks for joining me for this podcast. Today I'm really excited

0:09.4

for you because whenever you talk about how do you really dominate in the marketplace,

0:14.0

most people are taught that you get into business and that you fight for a competitive advantage.

0:18.4

You try to battle for some portion of the market share.

0:21.3

But I'm here to tell you that's totally unsustainable. If I had tried to just compete for market

0:26.1

share in the personal development business, it's a pretty small market. But what I really wanted

0:30.0

to do is I wanted to affect a much larger audience. And I look for ways to deliver that in ways

0:35.2

had never been delivered before. So I believe if you want an

0:38.2

advantage in business, if you do what everybody else does and you do it better than everybody

0:43.1

else, you get a tiny competitive advantage. But if you do something no one else is doing in

0:48.0

your space, you get a geometric advantage. And I can tell you, whenever I'm talking to people in

0:53.5

my business mastery seminars,

0:54.9

one of the first questions I ask them is, what business are you in? And people usually give me an

0:59.0

answer like, well, I'm, you know, I have a restaurant and a catering service. Or, you know, we have a

1:05.4

CRM system that's superior than anyone else in the world. And whenever they say these things, they usually,

1:10.8

I'm a lawyer, or I do, you know, I wholesale cars. And usually they describe the process of what

1:16.6

they do, not the benefit of what they do, which is the first place everybody's got to start.

1:21.1

If you can't communicate what you're doing, what your company is in a way that creates

1:26.5

curiosity and is compelling, if it's not

1:29.1

compelling for you, first of all, it's not going to be compelling for anybody else.

1:32.1

And what will make your business more compelling is if you also maybe ask yourself another

1:35.5

question, which is what business do you need to be in?
