Mara is perhaps best known as the actress who plays Matilda in Matilda.

We talk about that, about why she left acting, about realizing that she's bisexual, and also about our culture's obsession with celebrity.

We often allow ourselves to delight in the very public mistakes of child stars.

And Mara has a really interesting perspective as someone who was a very big child star, and also someone who has dealt with mental health issues.

So we talk about what growing up in the industry does to you and how it really forms who you are

for better and worse.
