I'm Mark Stephen and today I'm not my own garden, I'm actually in somebody else's garden.

Right in the centre of Aberdeen.

Surprisingly noisy actually, there's some building works going on in the garden just next door.

Yeah, we both live in the country and it's actually quite interesting how much noise is going on, the planes, the banging of the gardens, it's a whole new soundscape.

That city soundscape is very different for us, but I've been out and about filming for our landward this week.

First time out and what a change in the countryside. There are cars

lining, Loch Morlach, people on the hills, camping vans everywhere. It's a really different

environment at the moment. We're in the garden of Esther Wolfson. Esther is an author who has vast

personal experience of birds and corvids in particular after rescuing a fledgling

rook who then lived for many years here with a family in abidame and got more on that shortly

esther seemed to publish a new book about human relationships with other species called between light

and storm esther thanks for having us so it's a great pleasure can we start off just with a reading

from the book but i picked something out on page 31 now.
