At long, long last, after more than five years, Mary Lambert's long-anticipated new album is here.

You likely know Mary as the singer and co-writer of Same Love, The McLemore and Ryan Lewis song.

And true to her brand, she says she cried the whole time while making this new album.

It's called Grief Creature and has tracks with names like Born Sad and Trauma as a Stalker,

another rape poem, and Feel with Me.

And, you know, personally, as someone who is just a little emo boy at heart, someone who still listens to Fallat boy, I relate to Mary's

music on a deep level. So to celebrate the release of her new album, I wanted to bring you

this interview that we did at the end of last year when her book of poems came out.

That is called Shame is an Ocean I Swim Across, and there are poems that have been turned into songs and vice versa,

so I think it reveals some really interesting insights into her new work, as well as just the

incredible and unconventional career that she has had.
