We are in Matthew chapter 9. And a little context before we get into this question about fasting

that's going to happen starting in verse 14 last episode

Jesus heals a paralytic and people don't like that because he tells him his sins are

forgiven then Jesus calls Matthew a tax collector people don't like that because he's a tax

collector and then Jesus just doubles down hardcore and goes over to this

guy's house to eat. And he's eaten with tax collectors and sinners. And if that weren't bad enough,

we must ask the question, is Jesus not only eating with tax collectors and sinners, but is he

eating at a time when the righteous among us are not eating?

It appears this is the case.

And so you have Jesus doing all the wrong things to get in good with the scribes and the Pharisees.
