Starting in 2017, someone started killing women in southwest Detroit, MI. The killer struck at night, and always used the same weapon – his car. Detroit police realized that they had a serial killer on their hands. His MO was always the same – pick up a white, female sex worker; have a sexual encounter with her in his vehicle; and then, run her down with that vehicle and rob her. He was brazen, ruthless, and active, with at least five cases fitting his MO. Despite all the trappings of modern technology at detectives’ disposal, they could not identify the Hit and Run Killer. Finally, the application of forensic genealogy in an active investigation gave detectives what they needed – a name. This episode features an exclusive interview with CeCe Moore on her genealogy analysis, and brings to listeners a case that received very little media coverage.

1:30.0	Rinald Atard, and Nicholas Madrano, were on patrol in their cruiser when they received a radio
1:35.6	call of a person down in the area of Casper and Cypress streets in southwest Detroit.
1:41.2	Driving to the location, the officers were met by medics already on the scene. The
1:45.5	medics advised Atard and Medrano that they had checked a woman lying on the sidewalk on Cypress
1:49.8	Street, and she had no signs of life. The residential neighborhood was dark and quiet. Madrano
1:57.2	and Atard looked at the woman's body by the light of their flashlights. She was lying on her back, arms and legs spread slightly, her t-shirt reading,
2:04.8	Work-Hard, Play Hard, pulled halfway up her torso. They were horrified to see that she was visibly
2:10.1	pregnant. The woman and her baby were both pronounced dead at the scene.

2:19.1	because I didn't know what the Fatal Squad was. Detroit PD's homicide unit is divided into
2:24.5	divisions, handling different death investigations. The Fatal Squad handles all deaths related
2:29.7	to vehicular incidents, and there was good reason to believe that the pregnant woman had been hit by a car.
