columnist here on Astrology Hub. And this time, I wanted to talk to you about Mercury, turning

retrograde on November 25th.

Just in time for Thanksgiving!

Mercury retrogrades are probably the most famous aspects of astrology.

Just about everyone on the street knows what a Mercury retrograde is.

Mercury retrograde is a period of time when things become confused, when

communications are working at cross purposes, when people don't really make a lot of sense,

and when whatever transaction or business deal you're engaged in suddenly falls through or turns into a lemon. So Mercury retrogrades have

this kind of, oh, what would I say? This reputation for duck and cover. And people often take

that sort of attitude when they hear that Mercury is turning retrograde. They're like, oh, these are

duck and cover days. I better watch out. Don't sign a contract. Don't agree to anything. Don't make a big purchase or a big

deal because chances are nothing will come of it. Now, the reason for this reputation lies pretty much

with the root word of Mercury. In Latin, Mercury comes from the word Merk, which was used as the

root word for merchant, merchandise, and mercantile. So Mercury naturally ruled over anything that

is transactional. People who do buying and selling. People who do accounting. People who do

counting. People who analyze. People who crunch the facts. Usually these people have a very

strong mercury in their chart, or they're born under the zodiac signs of Gemini and Virgo,

which are both mercury-ruled signs. Mercury comes from the idea of the

scribe back in Mesopotamia, in Mesopotamia, which we basically generally regard as the

cradle of civilization, you would have a king, you would have a ruler, and you would have a court,
