The Murder My Family episode 4.

In the first three episodes of The Murder in My Family,

we discussed three murder cases in which families of the victims don't know with certainty who killed their loved ones.

But what if you did know who the killer was?

And it wasn't just one of your family members that was killed but rather two. What if the killer turned up to be somebody that you knew well?

On August 25, 1992, Michael Holmes, age 43, and his wife Linda Holmes, who was 42, sat in their Indianapolis,

Indiana living room watching TV, along with one of their four children, Catherine, who was nine years old.

The couple's son David, who was three, was asleep in his bedroom.

Everything was peaceful at 4808 North Park Avenue. Linda sat in her rocking chair

reading while Michael sat in his chair in front of the TV. Catherine or

Katie who she was known to her family played on the floor at Michael's feet.

Their peaceful Tuesday night was shattered when someone burst into their home surprising the

TRIA.

The intruder confronted Michael and pointed a rifle at him demanding money.

Michael was shocked and surprised, but yelled out that he had money upstairs.

As Michael stood up, he was shot multiple times and collapsed on to his daughter Katie. Linda tried to get out of a

rocking chair when the gunman turned his attention towards her and shot her multiple times as

well. The book she was reading, How to Write Your Own Will, fell to the floor.

Katie was terrified after witnessing her parents being shot, but the gunman spared her life and

fled from the home.
