And today, I am speaking with Father Michael

Nazir Ali, author of from Anglican to Catholic in the April issue, April 22 issue of first

things. Welcome to the podcast, Father Michael. Yes, thank you for having me. I'm very glad to be with you.

Now, you have a dramatic story to tell about your migration, your movement from being a bishop

in the Anglican Church to entering the Church of Rome.

What, and that, you say, happened fairly recently?

Well, yes, I mean, in terms of reception and ordination,

it only happened about four months ago, just over four months ago,

four or five months ago. but of course it's not

as dramatic as it sounds because it's been a gradual process I've been as an

anglican a long-standing member of the anglican Roman Catholic International

Commission and also another commission set up

by the Anglican Communion and the Roman Catholic Church on advancing sacramental unity called Yarkoom,

the International Anglican Roman Catholic Commission on Unity and Mission.

So, yes, I've been thinking about many of these issues a long time.

And as you, there's a kind of negative story and a positive story, as I detect in your piece,

there's a growing sense of dis-ease, I guess,

and concern about Anglicanism. I guess Anglicanism, you said, commends itself as being

reformed in theology and apostolic in ministry.

And you begin to wonder whether that's actually a sustainable affirmation.
