So in 1951, Robert Heinlein released a novel called The Puppet Masters and it dealt with

alien parasites taking control of the minds of their human victims. Since then, mind-controlling

parasites have been a staple of science fiction. Star Trek had several of those over the years.

But could something like that happen in the real world? Well, not only can it happen,

it does. Mind-controlling parasites really exist and sometimes they affect humans.
