Hey everybody welcome back to another episode of the Catholic talk show today. We're going to be talking about the recent phenomenon of the statue of Mary in Canton, Ohio that closed her eyes.

0:10.6

That's right. We're going to take a look at this particular occurrence, but we're also going to look at how the church assesses miracles, which are approved, and which are not, and a whole lot more. Let's get started. So, All right, so we're not just going to look at this story as Ryan said. We're going to talk a little bit about this Our Lady of Fatima statue. It's history, its origin, what the church teaches about phenomenons like this and how we can integrate

0:58.0

this into our faith as private revelation to this woman.

1:02.0

That's right, you know, in Catholicism,

1:04.9

there's kind of a, well, there's a real focus

1:08.3

on miracles in these phenomenons, especially around Mary.

1:11.5

But it's something that I would say that we need to be careful about and really have a

1:14.3

spirit of discernment towards because there has been hoaxes, there's been fakes, there's been

1:19.5

things that have been misinterpreted too. So every time somebody makes a claim we can't just jump off and say,

1:26.0

well, this is a miraculous occurrence because that poses a few dangers. One, it can dilute the truth of the situation and make people believe things that are

1:36.2

contrary to the church or harmful to their spirituality when it ultimately is

1:41.0

exposed. Secondly, I think it's important to mention that Catholics are not beholden to accept any extra from the deposit of faith miracles, no private revelation, no, even Fatima, you know, like, or Our Lady of Lords.

1:59.4

If a Catholic never heard of those, their faith is not in danger.

2:04.2

So they are not a central part of the deposit of the faith.

2:07.7

But they are, however, things that are, hopefully if they're coming truly from Our Lady,

2:11.8

things that will help bolster us and and support us on the way.

2:15.6

So we want to talk about that a little bit today.

2:17.4

Now, before we get started, I want to make sure that if you're listening,
