She lived there until 1980 when she relocated with her mother and stepfather to Western Michigan.

Dini, as she was known, lived in a small town bordering Grand Rapids.

In the early weeks of 1981, Dini was still adjusting to her new home.

She had friends at Forest Hills Middle School.

She loved going to the mall.

And sometimes she snuck out of her bedroom window at night to have a cigarette.

But let's not be too hard on Dini for smoking. It was 1981.
