Our teaching text this evening comes from Colossians chapter 3 verses 23 25.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

Since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward, it is the Lord

Christ you are serving.

Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.

This is the word of the Lord.

We are continuing our series on mission of formation tonight. And tonight we are talking about in the category of sacrificial mission, these two words, vocational mission, and the core practice is workplace prayer.

Now, it's been my experience as a pastor that these are two areas that people tend to have

a lot of confusion when it comes to living out their faith.

People know they should pray and we try and be a prayerful people, but a lot of times people get

caught up in that, understanding the dynamics of prayer, the sovereignty of God in prayer,

how prayer plays out in everyday life. And so a lot of times our prayers,

for the most part, are devotional and contemplative, a source of comfort for us, but not something

we pray in the world that we really believe is going to make an actual difference in history.

There can be a lot of confusion around prayer. And I don't know of another topic that

causes tension like work. Work is confusing for the industries that we're in in the world right

now. They're being disrupted. There's whole sections of jobs that are being automated.

AI is changing things rapidly.

Maybe you're here tonight.

You're a little older and you're struggling to figure out your relevance in the workplace

as you wage.
