Conservative MPs Stephen Hammond and Henry Smith, both of whom have decided not to run for their seats again at the general election, reflect on why they have called it quits on the Commons, and offer some advice for candidates vying to replace them.

1:25.8 | And so I suppose psychologically it was a bit of a bit of a shock yesterday. |
1:30.5 | I suddenly went back to my office and thought, I've got to clear this out the next week. |
1:36.0 | But in the short term, I think it's a shock. But you can understand why the Prime Minister |
1:41.2 | has called the election now, inflation back to normal, |
1:46.8 | some of the action with regard to tackling illegal migration about to actually swing into |
1:53.9 | practice. So you can see why perhaps a summer election is the attractive choice for him. |
