Hello listeners, I'm the On this episode of Black Girl Gone, I tell the story of Sarah Washington, a 25-year-old woman

who was murdered in Kankakee, Illinois on June 26, 2014.

On that day, Sarah's mom went to her apartment to pick her up for work.

But when she arrived, her daughter did not answer the phone,

and so she went to her front door and found it unlocked.

Sarah's mom entered her apartment and in her bedroom

found Sarah lying on the floor, dead.

Sarah had been shot twice.

When police arrived, they found very little evidence and no clear motive.

But when a seemingly unrelated murder takes place days later, detectives

are able to narrow in on a suspect. But the motive, even 10 years later, remains unclear.

This is Sarah's story.
